Every year around fall, our house is flooded with flies as those little boogers try to escape the chill of the nights. And they are everywhere. Buzzing and flying and getting in our food (or trying to). This year, we went to Home Depot and got some insect traps. I bought three – two that plug in and one that is sticky and can hang in the garage. Well, really, all of the traps are sticky.
The two plugins are Safer Home Indoor Fly Trap and Zevo flying insect trap. The Safer Home trap is plugged in and has a UV LED light that attracts the insects. There is also a sticky card that is inserted. The Zevo trap is the same although we had more luck with the Safer Home trap than the Zevo trap. It could be the location of the plugin device. The only difference really was that the Safer Home trap light was a wee bit dimmer and tolerable than the Zevo. These traps really catch the insects at night with the attraction of the light.
Safer Home is a very easy device to use. It comes with two glue cards and has a quick setup guide on the box. The Zevo trap is also very easy to use. It comes with one glue card and also has pretty easy instructions on the box. The Zevo device is also able to rotate, which comes in handy because although the Safer Home device is smaller, once the glue card is inserted, they are both about the same size.
As mentioned above, we also purchased a Raid Fly Stick. The one we purchased came in a pack of two, and both were hung in the garage. These are extremely sticky with a “bucket” at the bottom with instructions to fill with one teaspoon of honey or any type of syrup. We did not have much luck with these, but I’m sure it is because the insects were already in the house.
Good luck on your insect removal journey. Although it is annoying while it is happening, it doesn’t last too long. Especially when the traps are placed. It is one of those things that are totally gross and fascinating at the same time. Which one will you choose?
