Raised bed review

This is a completely unbiased review of Wayfair’s raised beds purchased for the summer gardening venture. Both beds are about 4×4 with a lattice backing for climbing things. Great for tomatoes or vines. Here’s a look before planting.

The square part at the bottom was not a true square but close enough for to get the job done. Both beds were in pieces that arrived in kits. The raised beds were predrilled and pretty easy to work with. I think it took me 30 minutes to get both squares together.

The lattice work, on the other hand, was a lot more difficult. The slats were not easy to work with as some did not have the notches in the back to fit the corresponding piece, making it a bit challenging for me to put together alone. I think it took 2 hours to get those together. Mind you, I’m okay when it comes to putting things together; I’m sure it was just me making it a bit harder than it should be. Also, not all parts (screws) came included. However, in the end, we are very happy with the results. The lattice is certainly not necessary. It just looks good!

The finished product!

We were a little late to the gardening game and ended up with mostly flowers, which is okay in my book! The box on the left is somewhat shaded by a Burr oak tree. It contains purple fountain grass in the back, some petunias, cosmos, marigolds, a foxtail fern, and a lot of zinnias. Great for cutting. The box on the right is in the full sun so it has the vegetables (4 tomatoes, 1 bell pepper, and 1 jalepeno) in it as well as marigolds, cosmos, etc.

All in all, I’d give these 3 out of 5 stars. I did not find the exact kits purchased – here is one almost like it from Wayfair.
